    i'm building one very similar to this - on a gradent too - i was thinking of putting down 4 sheets of plywood as my top floor instead of 20 pieces of 2x6 - to save money ($40 V $300). What do y'all think about that?

    • @FrankDoesIt
      @FrankDoesIt Месяц назад

      Yeah I understand the cost savings but the reason for the floor how I did is to allow for air flow from underneath to help dry out wood or keep wood dry, that and added strength because firewood is heavy

    Beautiful woodshed, beautiful family. God is good! Two questions: How many cord do you estimate this design holds? Have you experienced any sinking of feet over the few years you’ve been running this shed? I was assuming I’d need to pack the hole and level with gravel but maybe I don’t?

    Well done!! it was great to see family helping each other. One day you will be able to look back at these videos and enjoy the greatest moments seeing your family. • @FrankDoesIt
      @FrankDoesIt 4 месяца назад

      Thank you so much! It’s a joy to get the little ones involved! I always just go down very incrementally on the sanding, I’m not sure the exact amount I was taking off, you can kind of gauge it by listening to what the machine is doing, if you are taking way too much, the noise will tell you. I want to hear a very gentle sanding and not a bogging.

    Why not draw the outline of the funnel, measure from the edge to the slope of said funnel, draw another box in correlation to that measurement (measure twice cut once), drill starting holes in one of the corners, then use a Jigsaw to cut it out? Fewer steps, more wood to spare.

    • @FrankDoesIt
      @FrankDoesIt 6 месяцев назад

      Your method would definitely work. The main reason I didn’t do it that way is because the lip is no symmetrical all the way around. Doing what I did, I didn’t measure one time and the hole is crisp and clean. There isn’t a lot of room for error inside of the lip so if I didn’t get my jigsaw cut perfect, there would have been a chance of having gaps. Your way isn’t wrong by any means.

    I’m trying to figure if it’s worth my time building this sled from MICROJIG. I have a few concerns which I see that you’ve probably dealt with due to your own adaptation. To start with, the front fence. I just don’t know how stable it can be without the front fence. Is that an issue you’ve run across? Also I’ve noticed that you have a sacrificial fence, I’m assuming thats so you can switch it out for the times when you’re cutting a 45 degree angle?? Worth the build?? Looks nice tho, that’s for sure 👍

    • @FrankDoesIt
      @FrankDoesIt 7 месяцев назад

      It’s been a great sled! Yeah I added the front fence because I had the same thoughts, but even without adding it, it is supposed to be held together by the insert. I wanted something a little more permanent and rigid holding it together. Yes, the sacrificial fence was also my adaptation for exactly what you mentioned in your comment. I would say the sled is worth building, I would definitely add the sacrificial like I did 👊🏼
